I don't want to spoil anything for those who have not seen this episode, so I'll just say that Ace needed a strong hand to hold and Batman was there for her.

Simple process, took the background screen shot, cropped it and overlaid the hand holding frame over it (removed the area around the hands) and made it semi-transparent.
